A COVID-19 testing site in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo District
South Korea has reported another 20 more cases of the novel coronavirus as health officials are trying to keep clusters in Seoul under control.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the nationwide case count hit 11,142 as of Friday, while the death toll remains unchanged at 264.
Of the latest cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, 11 were local infections and nine were imported from overseas.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases linked to the outbreak at clubs and bars in the capital city's Itaewon area stood at 207 as of Thursday.
Although the estimated 14-day incubation period of COVID-19 has ended with regard to the Itaewon outbreak, the KCDC is still urging all those who visited the area from April 24 to May 6 to get tested if they have not yet done so, as they may have the virus but are not showing symptoms.
More than half of related cases have been secondary, tertiary and quaternary infections.
