The government is urging the public to follow quarantine guidelines at beaches nationwide this summer as some of them have begun opening.
Yoon Tae-ho, a senior official at the health ministry, told a press briefing Monday that new guidelines have been distributed to ensure safety of beachgoers and prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
Under the guidelines, vacationers are asked to avoid visiting beaches in large groups and are instead recommended to visit smaller beaches to prevent an influx of visitors.
Visitors have also been asked to have their body temperature taken, wash hands thoroughly and sign visitor logs when using public facilities such as outdoor showers and restrooms.
