President Moon Jae-in is not expected to grant any special pardons ahead of National Liberation Day, which falls on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, a key Cheong Wa Dae official said there is currently no plan for the president to issue any pardons.
The remarks by the official come amid calls by independent and opposition lawmakers to free jailed former President Park Geun-hye.
Moon has previously granted pardons at the end of the year and on March 1, the day the country commemorates the Independence Movement of 1919, but never for Liberation Day.
