President Moon Jae-in offered his heartfelt congratulations to BTS on Tuesday for reaching No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart, saying the group has written a "new chapter in K-pop history."
In a message posted on his social media account, Moon praised the seven-member boy band for becoming the first South Korean artist to top the U.S. music chart, describing the feat as "truly amazing."
He said it is more meaningful the group made the achievement with the song "Dynamite," which contains a message of hope and consolation for the people in the world suffering amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Moon added that the success "will bring huge consolation to Koreans suffering from the national crisis caused by COVID-19."
