Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa departs for her official visit to Vietnam from Incheon International Airport on the morning of Sept. 17, 2020.
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha is heading to Vietnam for her second official overseas trip since the coronavirus pandemic began earlier this year.
Kang will pay a courtesy call on Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on Thursday, and discuss economic cooperation plans.
On Friday, she will sit down with Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, who doubles as deputy prime minister, for talks on COVID-19, the development of bilateral ties and the regional security situation.
The issue of lifting entry restrictions for essential personnel, including South Korean businesspeople, will also be on the agenda.
Kang last visited Vietnam two and a half years ago, and she will be the first foreign minister to make an official visit to the country since the novel coronavirus outbreak began.
