This pictorial released by the Ministry of Defense on Oct. 1, 2019, marked the 71st anniversary of the founding of South Korea's Armed Forces.
Commemorations to mark Armed Forces Day will be held at the Army Special Warfare Command in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, for the first time.
The annual ceremony will open next Friday, rather than the usual October 1, due to the day coinciding with the extended Chuseok holiday.
The Ministry of Defense said this year's event will highlight special forces troops across all military branches, and will also feature air maneuvers by F-35A stealth fighter jets.
Officials said only 100 attendees have been invited to take part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with anti-virus measures in effect.
The ministry said it earlier asked Icheon residents for their cooperation and understanding before and during the planned ceremony as related rehearsals and air maneuvers are carried out, which could cause noise and other disturbances.
