Government officials are reiterating calls for public cooperation to help bring the coronavirus situation in the country under control before the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
Health Minister Park Neung-hoo warned against complacency during a meeting of the Central Disaster Management Headquarters on Tuesday.
He noted that daily virus tallies have marked a significant decline over the last three days, however, he said the downward trend could be attributed to less testing over the weekend.
Park stressed that around 40 percent of people still receiving treatment for COVID-19 are the most vulnerable to the disease, elderly patients over the age of 60, while sporadic cluster infections remain a major threat.
