Second Vice Health Minister Kang Do-tae speaks during a coronavirus response meeting held at the Government Complex in Sejong.
Second Vice Health Minister Kang Do-tae has again stressed the importance of staying alert and on guard against the threat of COVID-19, even if it appears as though the outbreak may be stabilizing.
Kang stressed during a meeting of the Central Disaster Management Headquarters Tuesday that the risk of infection still remains.
In particular, he pointed out that small cluster infections continue to emerge from hospitals and door-to-door businesses.
Social distancing measures were not eased to Level 1 because the country is through the worst of the virus, he said, but rather because the government saw need for citizens to return to everyday life.
The official also expressed concern about the rise in imported cases as global coronavirus tally has surpassed 40 million.
