Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun
Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun has called on health officials to quickly determine causality between a string of recent deaths and flu vaccinations.
Chung told authorities Friday during a Central Disaster Management Headquarters meeting that they must be transparent with their findings.
He noted various experts have already said the risk of death is low after receiving a flu shot but stressed that many people are feeling anxious.
Chung also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
As of midnight, there were a total of 32 deaths reported nationwide involving people who had recently received influenza vaccinations.
Addressing the increase in coronavirus infections, the prime minister explained the central and local governments are continuing to work together to curb the spread of the virus from various clusters.
He also issued a warning to the public against visiting nightlife establishments on Halloween next week to prevent further outbreaks.
