Health authorities have again expressed concern over Halloween-related events and stressed the importance of following quarantine rules to prevent another wave of coronavirus infections.

Kwon Jun-wook, deputy director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, told a press briefing Tuesday that social gatherings and parties are expected this weekend, and this worries him.

He said people with symptoms such as fever or respiratory issues should avoid going out and visiting crowded places.

Kwon urged those who do plan on celebrating Halloween to wear protective face masks, wash their hands often, maintain a distance of at least 2 meters from others and avoid staying in one place for a long period of time, if possible.

The official also called on business owners to act responsibly by carrying out temperature checks on workers and visitors and ventilate and disinfect their space often.
