South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff says Chairman Won In-choul and his American and Japanese counterparts agreed to maintain a readiness posture in the region.
According to the JCS, Won held a videoconference Thursday with U.S. General Mark Milley and Japan's military chief General Yamazaki Koji.
Three chiefs also stressed the importance of trilateral cooperation for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of permanent peace during the call.
The JCS said Milley reaffirmed Washington's impenetrable alliances with Seoul and Tokyo, while Yamazaki called for the strict observance of United Nations Security Council sanctions on North Korea.
