President Moon Jae-in has nominated three-term Democratic Party lawmaker Park Beom-kye as the country's new justice minister.
If confirmed by the National Assembly, Park will replace incumbent Choo Mi-ae, who offered to resign earlier this month over a heated political tug-of-war with Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl.
Cheong Wa Dae officials said Park is a good fit for the post, citing his credentials as a former judge and his service in parliament.
He is the fourth person appointed by the president to lead the ministry.
Moon also tapped DP Representative Han Jeoung-ae to be the new environment minister and picked former Navy chief of staff Hwang Ki-chul to head the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
Confirmation hearings for the nominees have yet to be scheduled.
