The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency says adults aged 50 to 64 and inmates at correctional facilities nationwide could be among the first groups to receive coronavirus vaccines in South Korea.
KDCA Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong told a press conference Monday that a plan to expand vaccination beyond the initial targeted groups is being discussed.
Health workers, the elderly at convalescent hospitals and nursing homes, and people with chronic diseases are at the front of the line to get the shots.
Jeong said vaccinations will begin at the end of February, adding they will have enough doses to inoculate 36 million people.
Earlier in the day, President Moon Jae-in said all South Koreans will receive vaccine free of charge.
