Eight foreign nationals and one South Korean recently tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a party at the home of a U.S. Forces Korea service member.
According to the Pyeongtaek city government Monday, the party was held on February 13 near Osan Air Base in the city.
Nineteen foreigners and two South Koreans attended the event.
The group is said to have met on Instagram and came together from across the country, including North Gyeongsang, South Chungcheong and Gyeonggi provinces.
The first patient was confirmed to have the disease on Wednesday.
Officials are still trying to determine the route of infection.
Local authorities also plan to fine the attendees for violating a nationwide ban on private social gatherings of five or more people.
