Health Minister Kwon Deok-chul has reiterated that South Korea's COVID-19 vaccine rollout will continue amid concerns about delays due to potential safety issues reported around the world.
Kwon said Tuesday that a total of 264 vaccination centers will be up and running across the country by the end of the month, and 3 million people will have received at least on vaccine shot by May.
He added the country's goal of vaccinating 12 million people within the first half of the year remains unchanged.
Kwon urged the public to trust authorities and asked for their active participation in the immunization drive.
South Korea is currently using the two-dose regimens developed by AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
More than 1.63 million adults in the country, or just over 3 percent of the population, have received at least one shot, and over 60,500 people have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
