South Korea has reported 735 additional cases of COVID-19 and two more virus-related fatalities.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency confirmed 715 local and 20 imported infections in the last 24 hours, pushing the total caseload to 116,661.
The death toll rose to 1,808.
Thursday's tally marked the highest since January 7, when the country recorded 869 cases.
Meanwhile, the daily average over the past week topped 600 on the back of continued cluster infections.
Despite the steady upticks, the government has maintained social distancing rules in the greater Seoul area at Level 2 and Level 1.5 in most all other regions through May 2, including a ban on private gatherings of five or more people.
Business restrictions have also been placed on nightclubs, bars, and other high-risk entertainment establishments from this week.
The total number of people released from quarantine after making full recoveries from COVID-19 was 106,459, according to the KDCA, up 582 from a day earlier, with 8,394 people still in isolation for treatment.
