The education ministry has requested health authorities give teaching staff at universities and colleges nationwide priority access to COVID-19 vaccines so more students can attend face-to-face classes in the fall.
Minister Yoo Eun-hae recently called on KDCA chief Jeong Eun-kyeong to help inoculate college faculty members as soon as possible, a ministry official said Monday in an online briefing.
Government officials have been pushing a plan to expand in-person classes in the second semester.
In line with such efforts, teachers at all kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools are expected to be vaccinated by the end of the summer break so that schools can fully reopen.
