North Korea has strengthened screening on people entering the country from abroad as part of stepped-up efforts to prevent an outbreak of the new type of coronavirus within its borders.
The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported on Monday that Pyongyang drew up measures to put all people coming from overseas trips after January 13 through thorough medical checks and supervision.
The KCNA said the health ministry was implementing the measures in a timely manner to block the spread of the disease.
It also noted that health authorities have been calling for increased hygiene and other action in the belief that prevention is the best policy at a time when there are no vaccine or treatment drugs.
This is the latest in a series of measures Pyongyang has taken against the new strain of coronavirus from China.■
