WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
The World Health Organization says it will meet with its North Korean mission in Geneva on Wednesday to discuss the outbreak of COVID-19.
Michael Ryan, the health agency's emergencies program director, told reporters on Tuesday that there has been no indication of any coronavirus cases in the North.
Ryan said however, the WHO has prioritized supplies for North Korea and is in the process of sending protective equipment.
The announcement by the U.N. health agency agency comes amid speculation that Pyongyang is trying to hide information in regards to the new coronavirus due to its weak health systems to test and treat patients.
The North's official Rodong Sinmun newspaper continues to report that the state has not yet seen a single infection, adding they should not let their guard down.■
