N. Korea reports it tested super-large multiple rocket launchers
North Korea reported on Monday that it successfully tested "super-large" multiple rocket launchers over the weekend.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency said Sunday's test was designed "to verify once again the tactical and technological specifications of the launch system to be delivered to units of the Korean People's Army."
It did not mention whether leader Kim Jong-un observed the launch, nor did it provide details on the weapon or where the test was conducted.
South Korea's military earlier said the communist state fired what appeared to be two short-range ballistic missiles from an area near the North's eastern coastal city of Wonsan.
Pyongyang has carried out a series of weapons tests and artillery firing exercises this year, and the latest comes about a week after the regime launched two short-range missiles on March 21.■
