A United Nations Security Council panel has approved temporary sanctions exemptions for the delivery of coronavirus test kits and other preventive equipment to North Korea.
The exemptions will allow the Singapore Red Cross to donate "RT-PCR equipment, testing kits, and related items to local hospitals" in the North.
The waiver, the second of its kind this year for humanitarian aid projects in the reclusive state, will be in place for nine months until February 2022.
Since the start of the pandemic, North Korea has claimed to be COVID-19 free, but continues to maintain strict border controls and other antivirus measures.
