Stretches of white, sandy shore on Boryeong's Daecheon Beach transform into a giant mud pit every two weeks in July.

The Boryeong Mud Festival takes place there, where record-breaking numbers of foreign visitors from all over gather to dive into the mudfest.

Boryeong mud is known for its anti-aging and rejuvenating properties, which makes it a key ingredient in local cosmetics products.

Such local goods can be sampled during the festival as well as mud baths and mud saunas.

But, the most popular points of attraction are the mud games.

From mud fighting to obstacle courses, almost every activity is chance to get knee deep in mud.

For the cleanly bunch, the region is also home to numerous mountains, beaches and forest, while Boryeong's seaside resorts and ports offer pictureque resting spots for summer travel.
