Pitcher Oh Seung-hwan practices with the Samsung Lions at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on June 2, 2020.
Oh Seung-hwan of the Samsung Lions will be eligible to return to South Korean baseball Tuesday after serving a 72-game suspension for an overseas gambling conviction.
The Korea Baseball Organization handed down the ban in 2016 after Oh received a court fine for gambling, and it kicked in when he rejoined the Lions last August after getting released by the Colorado Rockies.
Since his return, he had surgery on his elbow and was said to have spent a large chunk of his suspension rehabbing.
Oh is the all-time saves leader in the KBO with 277.
He pitched for the Lions from 2005 to 2013, before spending the next two years with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan and then parts of four seasons in the majors with the Rockies, the Toronto Blue Jays and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Lions will host the Kiwoom Heroes for a three-game series starting Tuesday evening at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, ahead of another three-game series at home starting Friday, against the KT Wiz.
