Yunhak (L) and Sungje, members of K-pop boy band SUPERNOVA
Police are investigating two members of a K-pop boy band for their alleged involvement in illegal overseas gambling.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency said on Tuesday that Yunhak, 36, and Sungje, 34, of SUPERNOVA were booked for allegedly playing baccarat one or two times in the Philippines from 2016 to 2018 with stakes up to 50 million won.
They are also suspected to have participated in illegal online gambling in South Korea.
According to the police, both band members claimed they did not go to the Philippines for the purpose of gambling and just happened to gamble by chance.
The group's management agency, SV Entertainment, has issued a statement apologizing over the incident and said the two members "deeply regret and are reflecting on their actions."
SUPERNOVA, also known as Choshinsung in Korean, debuted in 2007 with seven members and has also been active in Japan.
