Image shows further spread of coronavirus
Organizers of this year's Tokyo Olympics say they are concerned about how the coronavirus outbreak could disrupt the Summer Games, which are set to open in just under six months.
Speaking at a meeting with officials of the International Paralympic Committee, Chief Executive Officer Toshiro Muto said Wednesday that he is "seriously worried that the spread of the infectious disease could throw cold water on the momentum toward the games."
The remarks come as some qualifying events have either been canceled or relocated.
Organizers have continued to say there are no plans to cancel the Olympics.
That position has also been repeated by the International Olympic Committee.■
