The South Korean women's volleyball team defeated world No 4. Turkey at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday to advance to the semifinals.
The team won the very close match with a set score of 3-2 in the quarterfinals at Ariake Arena.
They will face either Brazil or the Russian Olympic Committee in the next round on Friday.
South Korea has not medaled in the sport since taking home bronze at the 1976 Montreal Summer Games -- the first time the country reached the podium in a ball game.
South Korea finished fourth in 2012 in London and lost in the quarterfinals in Rio in 2016.
