The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics are set to kick off Tuesday.

The opening ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. at the Olympic Stadium.

The Japanese capital will become the first city to host the Paralympics twice, having first staged the competition in 1964.

But the latest edition will be unlike any other due to COVID-19 and the states of emergency in place in Tokyo and three nearby prefectures.

As was the case with the Olympics, spectators will be banned from venues.

Around 4,400 athletes from 160 countries will compete through September 5.

South Korea is fielding more than 150 athletes to compete in 14 sports, including archery, badminton, swimming and wheelchair basketball.

The Korean delegation aims to clinch at least four gold medals and finish within the top 20 in the overall standings.
