One of the most notable films that showed the potential of a small-budget film is "Spirits' Homecoming," which opened small before becoming the seventh most watched movie in the first half of the year, drawing 3.6 million moviegoers.
Another Korean movie "DongJu; The Portrait of A Poet" also rose belatedly on the box office ladder, attracted 1.2 million people - an notable achievement for a small-budget film.
