The extraordinary success of "Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds" which hit the all-important 10 million viewer mark underscores the importance of reaching a wide demographic - both young and old.
The visual effects or spectacle emulating Hollywood blockbusters attracts the children while the melodrama and local themes of religion and family are more appealing to older audiences.
In other words, it appeals to the whole family - a crucial factor when producers try to secure financing for expensive films.
Hollywood's family adventure "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" - the sequel to the 1995 box office hit starring the late Robin Williams - has performed well in the West because it attracts the whole family.
The recent "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and Jurassic World" have also benefited from pulling in a wide demographic.
Like "Jurassic World" and "Star Wars" where nostalgia has played a part in attracting adults who then bring then children, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" is aimed at all ages including those who grew up having watched the original film twenty two years ago.
The sequel stars Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black who is transported into a video game called Jumanji.
The film is now on local release.
