KTX train services have normalized following a derailment that shut down stretches of the Gyeongbu Line.
Korail said Thursday operations resumed just before 8 a.m. after recovery work was completed at the accident site near the Yeongdong Tunnel in North Chungcheong Province overnight.
According to the state-run railway operator, the Busan-bound train that jumped the tracks Wednesday morning was likely hit by an unidentified object inside the tunnel, leading to the accident.
An investigation is underway.
Korail issued an apology over the incident and vowed further measures to prevent a recurrence and keep passengers safe.
