Firefighters are struggling to put out a wildfire in Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province amid strong winds and dry conditions.
According to officials, the blaze was detected on a mountain in Hwacheon-ri after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, around 15 hours after another wildfire was extinguished on a mountain in neighboring Samhwa-ri.
The Korea Forest Service has issued a Level 3 warning, the second highest in its four-tier alert system, as damage is expected on more than 100 hectares of land.
The fire has also spread to residential areas, prompting the evacuation of more than 180 households in the county.
Hundreds of fire crews and dozens of firefighting helicopters are battling the flames.
Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum ordered officials to dispatch all available resources and manpower into the operation.
