Gyeonggi Province has issued a two-week administrative order that places restrictions on gatherings at high-risk and multiuse facilities such as funeral and wedding halls amid a surge in coronavirus infections.
Lim Seung-kwan, co-head of the province's coronavirus response unit, said Monday that the decision was made to prevent the further spread of the virus in local communities.
The order, which will be in place through June 14, also affects call centers and logistics centers where there’s been a recent spike in confirmed cases.
The facilities will be allowed to stay open if they follow the government's quarantine guidelines, and the province plans to inspect the sites to see if the measures are properly carried out.
