Seven popular beaches in the southeastern city of Busan have officially opened for the summer with new measures in place amid the continued spread of COVID-19.
The beaches that opened Wednesday include Haeundae, Gwanganli, Daedaepo and Songjeong.
Due to coronavirus concerns, the Busan city government said all opening ceremonies have been canceled as well as summer festivals.
In addition, the city has reduced the number of beach umbrellas allowed on the sand have spaced them out so visitors can keep a safe distance from each other.
Temperature checks, the wearing of face masks and patrols to check whether beachgoers are properly following guidelines are among other preventative measures in place to reduce health and safety risks for the public.
