High school seniors planning to take the national college entrance exam, also known as Suneung in South Korea, this year will be required to wear face masks during the test to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Valve-type and mesh masks will not be permitted, according to quarantine guidelines released by the education ministry Friday.
Students will be required to apply hand sanitizer and get their temperature taken upon arrival at testing centers.
Anyone with a fever or other virus symptoms will be separated from other students.
The ministry also said test takers should pack their own lunch to eat at their desks during the designated break period, with exam rooms to be ventilated afterwards.
Those under self-quarantine will have to get permission from their local health authorities in advance to leave their isolation facility, while infected students will be able to take the exam at test centers set up at hospitals.
The College Scholastic Aptitude Test will be held on December 3.
