Health authorities and other public officials are on alert over a large cluster of coronavirus infections from an unlicensed religious educational facility in Daejeon.
According to the city government, at least 127 cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the IEM School as of Sunday.
The school is a boarding facility that recruits teenagers to primarily train them as international Christian missionaries.
Two students -- one from Suncheon in South Jeolla Province and the other from Pohang in North Gyeongsang Province -- were the first in the group to test positive for the virus over the weekend.
This prompted officials to conduct tests on 146 students and teachers, 125 of whom were confirmed to be infected.
There are worries the virus may be spreading from this cluster as students from across the country recently took part in classes at the school.
