The Korea Forest Service says five wildfires that raged across the country throughout the night have been put out, as of around 12:20 p.m. Monday.
The agency said crews are working to clean up embers for the blazes in Sout Chungcheong's Nonsan, North Chungcheong's Yeongdong, Hadong in South Gyeongsang and North Gyeongsang's Andong and Yecheon, all of which started on Sunday.
Over 3,300 government officials, firefighters and military service members were injected into the operation to extinguish the blazes.
Authorities plan to soon launch an investigation into the fires and determine how much land they torched.
The KFS believes the wildfires were causes by dry conditions coupled with strong winds.
