Dry conditions are expected to persist nationwide in the coming days, with strong winds in store in the southern regions this weekend, raising concerns of forest fires breaking out.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, dry air alerts in place in most of the capital region will gradually be expanded to the rest of the country from later tonight.
Winds are also forecast to pick up speed from Friday afternoon.
The weather agency has called for precautions to prevent fires.
A KMA official urged people not to carry firearms when engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking and to avoid smoking and burning waste.
