A funeral was held Monday for Firefighter Kim Dong-shik, who died while battling a blaze that tore through a Coupang distribution center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, last week.
The 52-year-old veteran firefighter and head of rescue at the Gwangju Fire Department was found dead Saturday.
Officials said he had been trapped in the burning warehouse since Thursday, when emergency crews first responded to the fire that is believed to have been caused by a spark from a power outlet.
President Moon Jae-in was among the many who have expressed condolences to Kim's bereaved family and paid tribute to the fallen firefighter.
Kim will be laid to rest at Daejeon National Cemetery.
