The Supreme Court has upheld the 42-year prison term for Cho Ju-bin, the mastermind of a notorious online sex abuse ring.
The top court on Thursday also confirmed orders by lower courts that Cho wear an electronic bracelet for 30 years after his release, pay a forfeiture of 100 million won and his personal information be made public for a decade.
He is also banned from working at children-related facilities for 10 years after he gets out of prison.
Cho was indicted on 14 charges in April last year for organizing a criminal ring and blackmailing 74 minor and adult victims into filming pornographic content, which he then sold to members of an online chat room on the instant messaging platform Telegram.
He had 38 accomplices who were also indicted on various related charges.
A district court sentenced Cho to 45 years behind bars, but an appellate court commuted his sentence to 42 years on account that he settled with some of his victims separately.
