More than 80 percent of people in South Korea have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said the latest vaccination milestone was achieved on Friday, just over eight months after the inoculation campaign started here.
According to the agency, it's only the fifth country in the OECD to hit the threshold, following Portugal, Iceland, Spain and Chile.
So far, 74.3 percent of South Korea's population of over 51 million has been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
