The Korea Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday it is looking into a total of four suspected cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Park Young-joon, head of epidemiological investigation at the KDCA, said they are now testing samples from the son of an Incheon couple who was earlier suspected of being infected with the variant.
The other case is an acquaintance of the couple.
Results of an analysis on the couple may be released this evening at the earliest.
All four patients have not shown symptoms of the coronavirus disease, according to officials.
The couple recently returned from Nigeria and were diagnosed with COVID-19 last week.
There are concerns of variant transmission as they did not have to quarantine upon arrival because they have been fully vaccinated.
