Nearly 50 percent of people aged 18 years and up in South Korea have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said as of Monday, more than 21.4 million people, or 48.5 percent of the adult population, have received an additional dose to fight the risk of infection.
For the entire population, the rate stood at 41.8 percent, and 81.6 percent for senior citizens aged 60 and older.
Vaccine coverage is also picking up among teens aged 13 and older as 77.4 percent of them have gotten their first dose, while 60.4 percent have been fully vaccinated, according to the KDCA.
