A man who is in jail for locking up his 11 year daughter for two years has been stripped of his parental rights.
The Incheon Family Court said it accepted the prosecutors' request for termination of parental right, citing the seriousness of the 33-year-old's crime and because he will be in prison for the rest of the girl's childhood.
The suspect was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of child abuse and assault after confining his daughter between 2012 and 2015 in a Seoul motel and at his house, during which he starved and assaulted her.
The 11-year-old weighed just 16 kilograms when she managed to escape through a gas pipe.■
