Asiana Airlines plans to operate four non-scheduled flights to and from India next week to help bring home Korean nationals stuck in the country, which has seen an explosive outbreak of COVID-19 infections and deaths in recent days.
The transport ministry said the air carrier will run two flights from Incheon to Bengaluru in southern India on May 7 and 22, and two flights to Delhi on May 15 and 28.
Korean Air will also operate one non-regular flight to Delhi on May 17.
The airlines said they may consider providing more flights depending on demand.
South Korea is among a growing list of countries that have suspended direct flights to and from India to block the spread of a virus variant that was first identified there.
Around 11,000 Korean citizens reside in India, according to government data.
