The top trade officials of South Korea and Costa Rica agreed Wednesday to work more closely together to further facilitate bilateral trade and investment.
Minister Yeo Han-koo and his counterpart Andres Valenciano Yamuni held a meeting in Seoul to check the implementation of a free trade agreement between South Korea and five Central American nations -- Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras and Nicaragua.
The pact was fully implemented last March.
Yeo expressed hope for the strengthening of ties in the environment, technology and innovation sectors.
He also called for Korean companies to actively participate in various Costa Rican infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new electric passenger train.
On Tuesday, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and visiting Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada vowed to boost cooperation in the digital and green sectors to spur their post-pandemic economic recovery.
