speed cameras installed in school zones
The Seoul Metropolitan Government says it will install speed cameras in all school zones across the capital by 2022.
The city announced a comprehensive plan today to enhance safety in the zones, with traffic bills regarding children's safety still pending in parliament.
Currently, only 13 percent of the city's school zones are equipped with the monitoring device.
Closed-circuit television cameras will also be set up in all school zones by that year to crack down on illegal parking and stopping.
In addition, the city plans to expand the scope and designate other areas where private academies for students are located as school zones.■
