Fine dust reduction measures in capital city will take effect early Friday as poor air quality is forecast.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said the measures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., restricting the operation of Grade 5 emission vehicles.
Construction sites will also be forced to shut down early.
The surrounding Gyeonggi Province, nearby Incheon, the Chungcheong provinces, North Jeolla Province as well as the cities of Gwangju and Daegu are also expected to be hit by high concentrations of toxic fine dust in the atmosphere.
Health authorities have advised the public to use face masks and refrain from outdoor activities if possible.
