Self-driving taxis are ready to hit the roads in western Seoul this week, the metropolitan government said Wednesday.
The first batch of four autonomous vehicles will offer public taxi services in capital's Sangam District, covering two separate transportation routes.
Passengers can book a ride on the TAP! smartphone application.
The fixed fare of 2,000 won per ride is automatically payable on the app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play or Apple App stores.
The self-driving taxis will circle two commercial areas in the district, picking up and dropping passengers at any of the preset points along the routes, according to the city government.
Next month, Seoul also plans to launch self-driving buses in the area.
