Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon has proposed opening a future session of the Consumer Electronics Show, which is under way in Las Vegas, in the South Korean capital.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Park expressed his willingness to host the annual trade show during a meeting Wednesday with Gary Shapiro, the CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, the organizer of CES.
Park noted that Seoul is the optimal city to hold the event given that it's equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Two CES events are held each year - one in Las Vegas and the other in Shanghai.
Park also gave a keynote speech during a special session, mentioning Seoul's technological advancements such as its public Wi-Fi and IoT sensors in various types of infrastructure.■
