All the major royal palaces in Seoul are offering free admission during the Lunar New Year holiday.

They will remain open over the next four days, including Monday, when they are usually closed.

The Cultural Heritage Administration said visitors will still have to pay a fee to tour the Secret Garden in Changdeokgung Palace.

Entrance will also be free of charge at royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, which are scattered across Seoul and surrounding cities, and Jongmyo Shrine.

On Saturday, Gyeongbokgung Palace will be giving out "sehwa," or paintings intended to wish good fortune, while those who visit Deoksugung Palace can take part in folk games, such as Yut Nori and hoop rolling.■
